Part 4/6

The door opened silently. You slipped in, Erica and Boyd close behind. It looked like the house was empty. You knew it couldn't be completely abandoned, but with any luck there would only be two or three hunters present. As the door clicked shut you felt the slightest twinge of hope. Maybe for once things would be relatively easy.

Then the burglar alarm went off.

"Shit!" You swore under your breath. Thudding feet on the stairs signalled that the hunters were on their way. Grabbing Erica's arm, you dragged her and Boyd to the nearest room. There was a lock on the door, and instead of picking it you just snapped the entire handle off. The three of you piled in, shutting the door behind you. "Okay, listen, we need to-"

"(Name)," Boyd interrupted, "look at this."

You turned around, eyes widening as you took in the walls of guns, arrows, and every type of weapon you'd ever heard of, along with quite a few that you hadn't. There were two large jeeps parked in the centre of the room. This had to be the garage.

"They're coming!" Erica hissed. You signalled that the others hide behind the jeeps. You held up a small gun.

"Do either of you know how to use this?" Boyd nodded slowly, and you tossed him the gun. "Try not to kill anyone."

Erica got a long taser that she held out like a sword. You grabbed three long knives off one of the tables, stuffing one into your boot, and holding the other two tightly. The three of you hid behind the jeeps. Within seconds two hunters came running in. They went straight for the weapons table at the far wall.

In an instant, you pounced. You had knocked one of them unconscious before they even knew you were there, but the other had time to open his mouth. He started to shout for help, but Erica jumped him from behind and slammed the back of her taser into his head. He crumpled to the ground, only a muffled grunt escaping from his lips.

"Thank you." You whispered to Erica.

She nodded and smiled. "I figured these things were set to stun werewolves. They'd probably to some serious damage to humans."

You gave her a surprised look. "Good thinking. Keep it up, and we might just get out of here alive."

Boyd came out from behind the other van. "There are at least two more in the house. If this is the main weapons centre, they should be relatively unarmed. Even so," he patted the hood of the jeep softly. "We should probably keep them from getting in here."

You smiled. "I like the way you think."

------------

"You expect us to believe that your pack is sitting at home, watching tv and eating popcorn while their alpha plans to turn himself in?" Allison's mother asked, laughing. "You must think we're fools."

"It's not a trick." Derek said. "It's just me and Scott."

"There is a way to test it." Chris said. He put a small silver divice to his lips and blew. Scott and Derek hissed and covered their ears. Scott fell to his knees, and Derek staggered back, hunching in pain.

Stiles jerked up in surprise. "What the hell?"

"It's a whistle." Allison's voice came out of his phone. "The frequency is too high for us to hear, but for Scott and Derek it's piercing."

"So your family is going to take down Derek using a DOG WHISTLE?" Stiles asked sarcastically. "That's original. And slightly anticlimactic."

Allison's mother gestured to the hunters behind her. "I don't see the point in making a deal if we can just have all of you at once." She said thoughtfully. "Take them."

An arrow flew threw the air, knocking the dog whistle out of Chris's hand. Derek was quicker to recover, pulling Scott to his feet and taking off at a dead run. The hunters shouted and jumped into their vans, but Stiles was quicker, tires screeching as he sped out of the parking lot.

Derek and Scott jumped into the car. Stiles sped down a maze of roads, losing the hunters in the twisting streets. The car screamed to a stop beside a fire escape. Allison jumped down and scrambled into the car. They drove back to the hideout, Scott, Stiles and Derek piling out.

"Go to Lydia's." Scott told Allison. "I know she said she would cover for you, but it would be smart if you spent the night."

"Okay. Why?" She asked, eyes narrowing with suspicion.

"I just want you to be safe." Scott replied. "Trust me."

She nodded and sped off.

Derek sighed as they went into the hideout. "I was hoping we could give them more time."

"I let them know that we lost them and told them to hurry up." Stiles said.

"When did you have the time to do that?" Derek snapped.

"While you and Scott were busy peeing yourselves because of a whistle." Stiles shot back.

"Are you SERIOUS?" Derek growled. "Because you were so much help. Tha-"

"Enough!" Scott shouted. "I don't want to listen to you two bicker while we wait. Should we go help them?"

Derek shook his head. "By the time we got there the hunters would already have arrived. We've just got to hope that they get out before the Argents get there."

------------

You pushed the jeep close to the door. The three of you slipped out of the room before pulling the car the rest of the way. Now the hunters had no access to their weapon stash, at least from the inside.

"Should we split up?" Erica asked as you pulled the door shut.

"No. We're safer if we stick together." You said. "Let's get out of here and find Isaac."

The three of you moved quietly through the house. None of the other hunters revealed themselves, but you heard someone moving around upstairs. You all froze as the garage door opened with a groan before quickly slipping into the basement.

"Be careful." You said, biting your lip nervously. " I don't know what we're going to find, but it's probably not going to be very pretty."

Boyd and Erica moved towards the stairs. "Wait!" You cried. They both looked at you. You sighed. "Listen, if anything goes wrong, get the hell out of here. One dead wolf is better then three." You waited until they nodded. Let me go first."

Boyd looked like he was going to say something, but in a blur you jumped on him, yanking him to the ground. A bullet exploded into the wood where his head had been a moment before. Erica yelped, but had enough composure to flick out her taser. The hunter raised a gun and fired a shot into her shoulder.

You snarled and threw one or your knives. It flew into his chest. He screamed before you slammed his head into the floor. You pulled your knife out of his shoulder before turning to face the others.

"If there's anyone else in the house-." Boyd began.

"They'll know exactly where we are." You finished. "We need to move now!"

The three of you raced down the stairs into the basement.

"Boyd, guard the door. If anyone tries to come down, keep them out. Erica, get that bullet out of your shoulder. Then go look in those rooms over there. I'm going to look over here." The two of them nodded, and you started to look around.

The basement was huge, with two hallways branching off in either direction. You started down the one across from the stairs. You had a knife in each hand, and your ears strained, searching for any noise. The first few rooms you passed were empty of people, but most were filled with instruments that looked like they would be very unpleasant if used.

There was one room that looked like some kind of office. A messy desk covered in notebooks and loose papers took up one wall. Your eyes danced over the papers as you looked around the room. A word stood out, and you went back to look at it.

Kanima

You picked up the paper, reading the sentences around the strange word. Unfortunately, you didn't read Latin. Even so, you were fairly certain you had never heard it before. But something compelled you to quickly skim through the pages, grabbing the few that had the word Kanima in them. You shoved the pages into one of the notebooks, which you stuffed in your boot. Then you left the room.

You were just entering the next room when your phone vibrated in your pocket again. You pulled it out and quickly read the message.

HAD TO LEAVE. OUT OF TIME. HURRY. -Stiles

You swore and stuffed the device back into your pocket after forwarding the warning to Boyd and Erica. You were running out of time. Your eyes darted around the room. This looked promising. There was a large metal framework of a bed lying horizontally against one of the walls, with metal manacles dangling from the top bar. Guns lined the walls, bullets of all shapes and sizes decorating the tables. Some sort of battery lay on a table, wires hanging from the machine and dangling off the side. The battery hummed quietly, and sparks danced from the tips of the dangling wires. You noticed the thick metal restraints on the table and shuddered.

Luckily the room was empty. You were so eager to get out that you almost didn't notice that one of the batteries wires led to a large white freezer pushed up against the far wall. There were thick chains wrapped around it, kept shut by a heavy metal padlock. You moved closer, and noticed small holes punched into the top if the lid. You traced your fingers along the hole. What the-

A faint noise came from the freezer.

"Oh hell."

You looked around the room for something strong enough to break the padlock. Your eyes fell on the battery. You turned it off, grabbed it and smashed it down on the lock, which broke and clattered to the floor. You tossed the busted battery to the side and unwrapped the chains from the freezer. Taking a deep breath, you slowly lifted the lid.

Isaac lay curled up inside. His hands were tied behind his back with rope and wire, and his knees were pressed against his stomach. His eyes were closed, and you saw with horror that bloody trails ran from his eyes down his face. You saw his chest move slightly and sighed. Thank god he was alive.

"Isaac." You shook his shoulder. He didn't move. You grabbed him under the arms and tried to pull him out of the freezer. He groaned and shifted, causing you to stumble back. His head slumped back, and you got a clear view of his stomach. You gasped and almost dropped him.

There was a deep wound in his abdomen, but that wasn't what had you concerned. Spreading from the wound were black spidery veins, creeping up his chest and
disappearing into the waistband of his pants. You recognized it. Nordic blue monkshood. The deadly poison had spread dangerously close to his heart.

"Isaac!" You smacked his cheek lightly. "Get up!" You dug your claws into his stomach, hoping the pain would wake him. But nothing happened.

"I'm sorry." You whispered. Then you slammed your fist into his jaw.

He snarled, eyes snapping open.
