Part 2

"Oh my god!" You screamed. "There is NOTHING TO DO!!"

"Be quiet." The Winter Soldier snapped from the corner of the subway car.

"You be quiet." You grumbled. "There is nothing to do, and I'm bored."

"Then why don't you leave?" He growled, cleaning a long serrated knife.

You rolled your eyes. "You're annoying."

He stood up, walking over to where you were sitting. "Shut up."

You stood up. "Shove off."

His eyes widened. You felt your hands start to heat up and you clenched them into fists.

"Listen Soldier." You snapped. "I agreed to help you, even after you kidnapped me, threatened me with pointy sticks, and--and reminded me of the criminal organization that tortured and abused me for three years! You promised me revenge, and now you want me to sit on my ass and watch you clean weapons while Hydra is out there, killing people. It is not going to happen."

He stepped forward, and you were forced to look up to see his face. "You decided to stay with me. Not the other way around. You are not calling the shots. I am."

"That's it. I wanted to be your partner, but you don't know what that means do you? You're just used to following orders and being a weapon. Nothing else."

"There's the door!" He yelled.

You clenched your jaw tightly, fingernails digging into her palms. Your palms started to glow a soft orange, and everything that wasn't bolted down started to rattle. Knives lifted off the metal table, and the metal car started to heat up.

You took a deep breath, and the knives fell back to the table. The heat in your palms faded, but you waited until the red had faded from behind your eyes before speaking.

"I'm done."

You grabbed your coat, tossed it over your shoulder, and walked out.

"That stupid son of a bitch." You grumbled under your breath as you stormed down the old subway line, looking for the nearest exit. "Toy soldier doesn't know what it's like in the real world anymore. Too busy being frozen and brainwashed to realize that…"

You yanked out your phone, still grumbling as you punched in a number.

-----------

Bucky watched you storm out of the subway car. He glared at your back as you walked away, feeling the heat slowly leave the room in your absence.

You were obviously not right for the job. You couldn't take this seriously, be mature enough to handle it. You wanted to run into danger headlong and not think about what you were doing.

He picked up a knife off the table, wiping it down with a cloth. He cleaned the already shining metal, rubbing until the tip of the knife ripped through the cloth. He swore, tossing the cloth aside.

He picked up a smooth round stone, rubbing the edge of the knife on the stone. He sharpened the knife until it was razor sharp before putting it to the side and picking up another one.

This knife was bigger, and when he tilted it to get a better angle he saw a flash of something behind him. He spun around, the knife gripped tightly in his hand, but he felt a pinch at the side of his neck, and the edges of the world started to go dark.

------------

You had just spotted the stairs leading out of the subway when you heard a noise behind you. Make that several noises. You spun around, flames leaping from your fingers. Two men in black uniforms had their guns pointed at your face.

"Agent 2147, extinguish the flames or we will open fire." One of the men said.

"Oh no," you pouted, letting the flames die, "we wouldn't want that." You wiggled your fingers with a grin, sending the guns flying from the men's hands. They yelled, and you threw out your hands again, sending them flying across the tunnel.

You turned to run up the stairs, but four more soldiers were running down with more guns. You rolled your eyes and threw out your hands again. Flames leapt up your arms, and you tossed them at the men. Screaming ensued, and you took the opportunity to hightail it out of there.

You turned and ran back in the direction you had come from, jumping over the unconscious bodies of the first two soldiers. Noises echoed from the direction of the subway car, and you paused.

Am I going to go back and save the soldier?

There was another noise from down the tunnel, something that sounded like fighting, which made the decision for you. You took off running in the direction of the noise, sending five soldiers flying out of your path. You slid to a stop as your eyes fell on the Winter Soldier.

Something was obviously wrong. He was moving sluggishly and having trouble fighting off the men that were trying to restrain him. You threw out your hand, sending half the men flying into the walls. One of the men rushed at you, and you couldn't hold back your grin.

You crouched low, grabbing the man's arm as he swung out at you, throwing him over your shoulder. Another man came at you, and you lashed out with your leg, catching him in the stomach. He stumbled back, but the first man grabbed onto your ankle from the ground, yanking you to the ground.

The second man kicked you hard in the ribs. Pain shot across your chest and you sucked in a breath, trying to pull yourself to your feet. The first man was back on his feet, and he had something shiny in his hand. The second man grabbed your shoulder, trying to pin you down, while the first one tried to put the shiny thing-- which you realized was some sort of collar-- around your neck.

You grabbed his wrists before he could snap the collar around your neck, yanking him forward and slamming his head into the other guy's. You pushed yourself to your feet, hitting a soft spot on the backs of both men's necks, knocking them immediately unconscious.

You looked up to see the Winter Soldier snap the neck of one of his attackers. There was only one soldier still standing, but the Winter Soldier quickly took him out too.

The Winter Soldier turned to look around, spotting you. He took a step in your direction, but stumbled to the side and fell against the side of the subway car.

"Hey!" You shouted, running over to where he was leaning against the wall. "Soldier, are you okay?"

He grabbed your shoulders roughly, slamming you against the wall.

"What the hell are you--?" You snapped.

His metal fist slammed into the wall beside your head, and you flinched. His eyes widened and he stepped back, raking his hands through his hair.

"This is wrong." He whispered. "You don't want to hurt people. Its wrong. It's wrong."

You studied him as he staggered to the side. "Are you crazy?"

"My name is James Buchanan Barnes. Bucky. Not soldier. I am not just a soldier."

"Yes you are." You said softly.

He spun around. "What did you say?"

"You are just a soldier." You said again. His hands tightened into fists. "Whoever you were before, that person is gone. Hydra killed him. All that's left is their toy soldier."

He clenched his jaw tightly. "All I am is a killer, is that what you're saying?"

"I'm saying that that's all you have left." You snapped. "Don't you see? They killed who you were, and they left you with nothing but blood on your hands. Doesn't that make you want to make them pay?"

"It makes me want to find out who I was!" He yelled, slamming his fist into the wall. "I want to know about my family, my friends. I want to be more then a killer!" He sighed. "I want to be who I was."

"You can't!" You yelled back. "That person is gone. And even if he wasn't, you aren't the same person you were then. Don't you see that? You aren't James Buchanan Barnes anymore."

"Then who am I?"

You sighed, running a hand through your (h/l) (h/c) hair. "That's the one good thing about them wiping your memories. You get a clean slate. You could be anyone you wanted."

"But like you said, all I am is a killer." The Winter Soldier said. "And I don't have a clean slate. I'm-- I'm starting to remember who I was."

"Do you remember what you did?" You asked. He nodded.

"Good."

His eyes snapped up to meet yours. "Good?" He growled. "You think it's good that I remember all the people I've killed?"

"Your a killer Soldier." You snapped. "Get over it."

He balled his hands into fists, stepping towards you menacingly. "Excuse me?"

"Accept who you are; and revel in it." You said. "Mitch Album's Tuesdays with Morrie. It's a good quote. They turned you into a killer. Use that. Turn the monster they created back on them."

He looked down for a second, studying his metal hand. "You want me to turn on my creators."

"Not just you." You said. "Us. They broke me too."

He laughed bitterly. "Ya, two broken toy soldiers."

You grinned. "Broken things have sharp edges Soldier. Lets make them regret breaking us."

"Bucky." He said, looking up at you. You tilted your head to the side, confused.

"My name is Bucky." He said.

You smiled, holding out your hand. "Nice to meet you Bucky. I'm (Name). I'll be your partner on this mission."

He reached out, shaking your hand with his nonmetal one. "Nice to meet you (Name). Welcome to the team."
Here is part two! Things between the reader and Bucky heat up, and Hydra closes in. What will happens next? I don't know. You'll have to read to find out. The quote is from the novel Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Album. It is a GREAT book. If you haven't read it, you really should. There are going to be plenty of quotes from that book throughout this fanfic.

Disclaimer! I do not own Marvel, any of it's characters, or the quotes. They belongs on their owners. I own the plot and whatever I make up, so do not use anything of mine without my permission.

Enjoy!
